Summer Camp Fun
Ukrainian Friends
We have been able to continue using our regular Proem resources to encourage the Ukrainians who are still living here in Poland.
• Our summer camp season kicked off with 3 weeks focused on the needs of Ukrainian children, plus lots of fun for them to enjoy a getaway from the continued trauma of war. You can see a video here.
• Some of the Ukrainian friends continue living in our Proem Help Center and continue to receive needed assistance and counseling with our licensed therapists at Proem Counseling. The team of counselors is enjoying the dedicated new office and meeting space at the Proem Help Center that they moved into this year.
• Finally, our Ukrainian friends have enjoyed their own gatherings for kids and youth each Saturday and Thursday, in their own language and cultural practices. Since the war began, several Ukrainian families regularly attend services with the Proem church community SCh TOMY and have translation provided for them. They build relationships and find support, encouragement and hope in loving Christian community.
Camp Stories
After the Ukrainian camps, the summer was full of Polish kids and teens arriving—some weeks focused on art, some on sports, some on robotics. All of the camps include times of worship and Bible study to learn more about Jesus.
• Now in this fall season, our campground is rented out by organizations from cities all over the surrounding region hosting their retreats.
• Now that other team members have already made their way to the States, there are fewer Proem staff members on the campgrounds. Which means, I am caring for the animals and more of the grounds than usual. It’s a different pace and a lot of physical work, but it is rewarding.
• Robert volunteers his time as well to help with some of the repair projects needed. This regular maintenance is vital each off-season when fewer people are here so that all of our facilities will be ready for next year’s large groups.
