One year in ministry
The end of April marked my first full year here in ministry, and it was quickly followed by Proem’s camp season. Every week there was a new group to welcome, facilitate housing, and make sure all activities ran smoothly. From kids to teenagers to adults on retreats, we have stayed busy hosting in our beautiful spot in the woods.
Every encounter is an opportunity to show Jesus’ love, whether it is through administrative tasks (to make sure everyone’s stay is in order) or introducing people to the therapeutic animals on our grounds. We loved having folks from Poland, Ukraine, and the U.S. with us this summer.
Sabbath Season
Our hearts are full, but our bodies are tired. So Proem wisely has created a year of Sabbath. We are resting from annual programming that filled my first year to the brim with activity and action. The events I shared stories from before—Journey to Bethlehem, Night to Shine, Road to Jerusalem—were huge undertakings that involved many hours of preparation and production by the entire Proem staff, plus many, many volunteers. So this year, we are taking a break. A local church will be taking over the local Night to Shine event in February, and we are excited to support their efforts.
Many of my Proem teammates are using this sabbatical to visit the United States and connect with their supporters. I plan to do the same—Robert and I plan to come to Cincinnati in early November and visiting other nearby places for a few weeks.
